Do you remember the first time you exported configuration? In my case, I back away... slowly. So many files, so much YAML, so little context. I never thought I could ever make sense of it. After working on some projects I started to get a feel for how configuration management worked. Patterns started to arise and I was piece together how changes made through the administration interface impacted site configuration. This session, an open letter to my past self, is a shortcut to understanding how configuration is managed in Drupal. You will learn about:
* The difference between content and configuration.
* Operations that produce configuration changes.
* Patterns in file names and how to read the synchronization report.
* Using Git to understand how the site configuration evolves.
* Where configuration is saved and how to deploy it.
