We offer you some tips (perhaps a bit worn out) to ensure that your talk is not affected by circumstances and that the content truly shines:
Talks Format
- The standard talks are the ones we have typically seen in previous editions. The speaker has 35 minutes, 40 at most, to explain and develop the topic of the talk. A volunteer will show you two warnings: one when 10 minutes are left and another when 5 minutes remain.
- Once the presentation is over, we move on to the questions session. You will have 5 to 10 minutes to answer questions from the audience.
Time management
- The secret to a perfect talk is practice. It is important to manage your time so that the session fits within the allotted duration. A collaborator will notify you when 10 and 5 minutes are left.
- It is crucial not to overstay your presentation time, as questions are one of the most important parts of the session. Try to leave time for this part, where you will likely delve into points from your talk. This will enrich your presentation and win over the audience.
- It's better to speak slowly and say less than to try to cover everything and be a "Roadrunner." Less is more.
Style and design of slides
- The organizing team recommends maintaining the event's graphic style. For that purpose, we provide you with the following template: DrupalCamp Spain 2025 presentation model.
- Limit text to eight lines per slide (better yet, use two lines, rather than one with no visible text).
- Each line should have a maximum of 30 characters.
- Use a font size of 28 points or larger, and be generous with line spacing.
- Use few words, but choose them carefully for their meaning; this will make them easy to read and memorable for the audience.
- The most important part is not the slides, but the speaker and everything you bring to the audience. Slides are a resource ¡they are not the talk!
- If the content requires attention due to its complexity, divide it into sections and use diagrams. This way, you can expand or shorten your presentation on specific topics you consider relevant.
- Avoid using UPPERCASE letters, as they make reading difficult, take up space, and are not attractive to your listeners. It's better to use bold or italics, but sparingly. We also do not recommend underlining.
- The projection will be in 16:9 format (1920×1080 pixels).
